Have you ever been separated from your usual life for a long while? This year, I left my own town, my house, my friends and my family to come in North Bay to learn English because it was one of my dreams to be good in English. I was very excited to come here and to live a new experience, but I had no idea that it would be as difficult as it is. Can you imagine being alone in a new country where you do not understand the language, you are without any friends or family and you have to face the difficulties of life at 17 years old? However, it made me grow up and I learned a lot about myself. Therefore, throughout this experience, I realized that my family is more important for me than I had thought. Now, I know that my family will always be there for me, that they have the same values as I do and also that they are essential to my happiness.
First, with this experience I realized that my family is very important for me, and if I have a problem, they will always be there to help me to pass through this difficult time. I know that I can count on them whatever I need or whatever happens. For example, my dad is always there to push and help me to realize my dreams and also to protect and reassure me if something bad happens. On the other hand, my mother is always there when I am sad or need to talk. She always helps me to find some solution or to change my mind. I always talk to my mom if I have something more personal that I want to talk over. I know that she will never judge me and always tries to understand me. It is easier to talk with my parents because they brought me up, so we see life in the same way.
Secondly, to have the same values as someone else is very helpful. When I left my family to go to a different city, I didn’t realize that everybody does not have the same values, so it was really more difficult that I had thought to make new good friends. Just between Ontario and Quebec there is a big difference. Therefore, I understand why sometimes it is easier to develop a good friendship with some people more than others. My family and I have all the same values because we receive all the same education, so it is easier to agree with everyone. I really like to be with my family. They always make me cheerful.
I also understand more about why my family is the most essential part of my life. They are very important to me because my family gives me happiness. Just their presence makes me feel great. I am used to being with them, and they are like a part of me. They know me really well, so my family knows when something is not right and what to do in these situations.
In conclusion, I am really grateful to have had the chance to live this amazing experience because now I am aware that my family is indispensable in my life. Also I have come to understand that my parents made me who I am, and that I require my family for my happiness. This was a long and hard experience, but despite everything, it has been the most wonderful experience in my entire life; I understand I lot about myself. How about you? What is really important in your life? Have you ever had an experience that made you realize something about yourself?
